Short answer: Between now and spring 2027, the main Japanese fair for buyers of gifts, homeware, tableware and stationery is the Tokyo International Gift Show on 24–26 February 2027 at Tokyo Big Sight, with LIFE×DESIGN and LIVING & DESIGN on the same dates. The Kyoto International Gift Show follows on 10–11 March 2027. Ambiente in Frankfurt (29 January–2 February 2027) is the European fair where you can meet Japanese makers without flying to Japan. The big summer fairs in Tokyo, Lifestyle Week and Interior Lifestyle Tokyo, are in June 2027. All dates below are as published by the organisers as of October 2026.
I wrote a separate guide on how to prepare for a Japanese trade fair and follow up afterwards. This post is only the calendar.

Tokyo International Gift Show, 24–26 February 2027
The 103rd edition runs from Wednesday 24 to Friday 26 February 2027 at Tokyo Big Sight. The organiser describes the show as about 3,000 exhibitors, more than 2,000 of them from Japan. Three other shows run on the same dates at the same venue: LIFE×DESIGN (21st edition), LIVING & DESIGN, and the Gourmet Show (41st).
For a buyer looking for towels, tableware, paper goods or small homeware, this is the one fair in the window that covers everything under one roof. Visitor registration is through the organiser’s site; check the visitor page for who is admitted and for opening hours, which the English page does not list.
The autumn 2027 edition is already announced for 8–10 September 2027, also at Tokyo Big Sight.
Kyoto International Gift Show, 10–11 March 2027
The 8th Kyoto International Gift Show is on Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 March 2027 at Miyako Messe in Kyoto. The organiser presents it around Japanese manufacturing and the techniques behind products, and runs an “Open Factory Day” where visitors can tour the workshops of exhibiting companies. If you want to see how a maker works before you order, that is the useful part. The page does not give opening hours or say whether entry is trade-only, so check the visitor registration page first.
Ambiente, Frankfurt, 29 January to 2 February 2027
Ambiente runs from 29 January to 2 February 2027 in Frankfurt. For European buyers it is the cheaper way to meet Japanese exhibitors. Japanese prefectures organise group stands there: Wakayama Prefecture’s tender document for its group stand describes a “JAPAN STYLE” area in Hall 3.1 at Ambiente 2027. I could not find a JETRO announcement of a national Japan pavilion for Ambiente 2027, so check the exhibitor list nearer the date.
I have also not been able to confirm the January 2027 dates of Maison&Objet in Paris on the organiser’s own site. If you plan around it, check there.
Lifestyle Week and Interior Lifestyle Tokyo, June 2027
These fall just outside spring, but registration and travel planning start earlier:
- Lifestyle Week Summer, organised by RX Japan, runs on 9–11 June 2027 at Tokyo Big Sight, 10:00 to 17:00. It groups twelve shows, including ISOT (the International Stationery & Office Products Fair), Table & Kitchenware Expo, DESIGN TOKYO, Japan Crafts & Souvenirs Expo and a packaging show. The organiser expects visitor registration to open around March 2027. An autumn 2027 edition is listed from 29 September 2027.
- Interior Lifestyle Tokyo, organised by Messe Frankfurt Japan, is on 23–25 June 2027 at Tokyo Big Sight. The 2026 edition had about 460 exhibitors from 18 countries and regions, 362 of them Japanese, and 12,733 visitors.
I could not find dates for IFFT on an official page, so I have left it out.
A consumer fair worth following: Bungu Joshi Haku
Bungu Joshi Haku is not a trade fair. It is a stationery sales event for the public, held on 16–20 December 2026 at Pacifico Yokohama, Halls C and D. Established and newer stationery makers sell directly to fans there. If you are planning a stationery or paper range, the products that sell out there, and the makers behind them, are a good guide to what is current in Japan. You can follow it on the organiser’s channels without going.
What this means if you order through me
- If you go to a fair, bring back the cards and stand numbers of makers you liked. I can follow up with them in Japanese and get written quotes: unit price, minimum, lead time, setup costs and payment terms. The maker search and quotes are free; my fees are on How it works.
- If you cannot go, send me the exhibitor names or photos of products you saw online. Makers who exhibit are, by definition, looking for new buyers, which makes them easier to approach.
- If you want to go with someone, I can visit makers with you around a fair. The day and half-day rates are on the How it works page.
- Plan production after the fair, not during it. Quotes, samples and approval take time, and many Japanese makers close over New Year and Golden Week (the manufacturing calendar).
Dates change. Check each organiser’s page before booking travel.
If you have a product in mind from one of these fairs, send me a brief.
